Little Pule learns to walk There was great excitement at LITTLE EDEN recently when Pule – encouraged by his therapist Vanneau – took his first wobbly steps. How we wish you could have been there to share the moment ... because without support from compassionate friends like you it would never have happened. Three-year old Pule has cerebral palsy and needed intensive therapy to help strengthen his legs and feet. He also had lots of incentive to catch ‘show-off’ Bo - who could take just three steps when she arrived here - and who now likes to race against Pule. Other children making amazing progress are Shaun – who understands and responds to Vanneau’s instructions to roll to the left or right; lie on his tummy or lift his bum up off the mat – and Pule’s older brother Tshepo. Tshepo’s hands and arms are badly affected by cerebral palsy and are usually clenched stiffly behind his back. When he arrived at LITTLE EDEN the only way he could eat was to put his whole face into the bowl. Now thanks to a special splint on his right arm - which holds it firmly in place - he is able to eat with a spoon. Once again - a huge thank you to all our friends whose support helps these children reach their full potential. |
